About Caro hat Wanderlust

In the morning the fog still hangs over the Saône.It's still pretty fresh when I drive off. And on this day I am so clever to get lost for the first time 😅 When I notice that and turn around again, my chain also snaps off. Well, the day starts well 😄🙈When I look at where I can camp at lunchtime, I realize that many campsites in France already close at the end of September. I didn't have that on my screen at all 😮 And now?First cycle on. On and on across the flat land and along the blue river. As it slowly gets dark I start to look at a tent site. If I camp wild for one night, I think to myself. However, the piece is extremely unsuitable for this. On one side the embankment slopes down and on the other side there are fenced fields and pastures. When it gets later and later, I cycle to the next village. And I'm just lucky. Because I get to know the three French people Kathrin, Piet and Patrick who let me sleep on the sofa with them.
So we spend a really nice evening together 😊

Was it the right decision?I wonder while I'm on the train. Somehow it feels a bit like failure. Weird, is not it?Fortunately, this feeling disappears very quickly when I lift my bike off the train in Dijon. I am greeted by the bright sun and drive the first part along a canal. The water glistens in the sun and I have a big smile on my face. That feels really good 😍And isn't that the most important thing? To have a good time, to experience new things and to have fun 😉

To be honest, I'm a little bit thin. The headwind in particular bothers me that day.
And so, with a heavy heart, I make the decision to skip a bit (approx. 200km) by train.
Because unfortunately my schedule is pretty tight this time. So I cycle across the French border in the morning. I get to Mulhouse via beautiful and lonely bike paths through the middle of the colorful forests.A really picturesque town with a great market square. From here I take the train to Dijon. In my luggage is not only my bike but also the hope for more sun and, above all, more enjoyment instead of hustle and bustle 😉☀️🇫🇷🚴🏻‍♀️

I crawl out of the tent and would like to go back straight away. It's icy outside and my breath forms little clouds in the cold morning air. I slept incredibly badly. Because half the night was celebrated on the campsite and it was incredibly loud.So I get on my bike rather unmotivated. The sky is covered with gray veils and even breaks are not really fun in this weather. And so I just keep going. All the way down to Braisach. “Another 120 km” day, I am amazed in the evening when I take a look at my cell phone. After the stage I'm a little proud of myself 😊 Flat but proud 😅💪🏼

Michèle accompanies me for the first kilometers this morning, and I was allowed to sleep last night 😊Together we whiz through the Rhine floodplains. The grasses and bushes are still hung with the morning dew and nature is awakening into a new day.I then reach Speyer alone again and admire the city's mighty cathedral. Then it goes through the port area. Not really nice but very exciting to look at.In the evening the setting sun bathes the Rhine in a magical light. The sky is bright orange and red. Although I'm already late, I just have to pause and enjoy this picturesque sunset and hold it for you too 💚😉

My first long bike trip 🚴🏻‍♀️Right now I have a lot of fun cycling and that's why I'm already cycling towards the Mediterranean 😍 Almost 1300 km of bike paths lie ahead of me.In a few days I want to feel the sand under my feet and hear the rush of the sea ☀️My huge saddlebags are packed, my bike is pumped up and ready to ride in the morning and I'm really excited.I quickly leave Mainz behind and follow the Rhine. Large cargo ships accompany me on my journey to Ludwigshafen. It goes through deep green Rhine meadows, steep vineyards and small towns. In Ludwigshafen I am allowed to stay with a friend and so the tent stays packed for the time being 😉
