At the summit of Kippure stands a 127m television and radio transmitter mast. This is the oldest television transmission site in the Republic of Ireland and was initially selected as a potential VHF FM radio transmitter site during the course of a Radio Eireann survey in the mid-1950s.

Today the Irish DTT service, Saorview, the national FM radio stations, and some commercial radio stations are broadcast from the site.

Kippure is a popular hiker's mountain in Ireland, which at 757 meters offers excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Part of the Wicklow Mountains National Park, Mount Kippure offers a variety of trails suitable for both novice and experienced hikers.

One of the most famous hiking trails on Mount Kippure is the Summit Trail, which ends at the top of the mountain and offers truly breathtaking views. The trail is relatively easy and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

There is also the Horseshoe Trail which is a longer loop walk and gives walkers a full sense of the beauty surrounding Kippure. The route is about 8 kilometers long and takes 4 to 5 hours.
