Spacious meadows above Waldleinigen. I suspect that agriculture was practiced here in the past to supply the inhabitants. The path from the village upwards, paved with sandstone, would also explain this, so that horse-drawn carts could not sink in or the path could be used permanently. At the highest point of the meadows stands a sandstone stele, a so-called benchmark stone, of which there are probably around 300 in the Pfälzerwald. They were erected from 1838-42 for trigonometric height measurement on elevations, hills, and peaks.
