The Einstein Tower is an observatory built between 1920 and 1922 in the "Albert Einstein Science Park" on the Telegrafenberg in Potsdam, a building of the architect Erich Mendelsohn that was revolutionary at the time of its construction. It was named after the 1921 Nobel Prize winner for physics. Here, the validity of Einstein's theory of relativity was to be confirmed experimentally. The building is a historical monument. The host and operator of the tower telescope is the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam.
