Enthusiastic is the dominant position of Herbstein widely visible on a volcanic cone. The pretty town with walkable city wall is designed in ring construction. It is widely known for its autumn tradition, a "Foaselt" (carnival), which dates back to the 17th century.
For nature lovers Herbstein is an ideal starting point for hiking and cycling. Recreation after the tour promises the VulkanTherme, the small but fine thermal movement bath in style.
The town of Herbstein, located on a former volcanic cone, is over 1000 years old. Since 1271, this encloses a still accessible in three places and walkable city wall made of basalt stone. The ring-shaped around the city church St. Jakobus center, proves the resilience of the Catholic enclave in the Protestant embossed Vogelsberg.
The beautiful and often lovingly decorated half-timbered houses in the Ringwall and the half-timbered town hall on the market place, form a harmonious coexistence.

Located a bit away from the railway lines. Well worth a detour because of the beautiful old town

The old town center is framed by an almost completely preserved and walkable 800-year-old city wall.
