From Ilmenau, up the Hangeberg, over the Alte Straße to the restaurant Schöffenhaus, past the refuge Steigereck and Marinenquelle we reach the Waldgaststätte Mönchhof. On forest roads parallel to Salzmannstraße we come to the viewpoint Kickelhahnblick, to the two meadows with refuge. Over the meadow, the track goes right to Geraweg where we turn left to Schützhütte on paradise. Steep up to the right around the Sachsenstein, past the Kerbhölzerbrunnen (source of the Zahmen Gera) we cross the Salzmannstraße and come to the restaurant Schmücke.
