Hotzelt Memorial Rest Area

The highlight created here is located in the western district of Bamberg, slightly above Lisberg, which is the northern gateway to the Steigerwald Nature Park. In addition to various leisure activities and well-signposted bike paths, cozy restaurants offer Franconian specialties as well as home-brewed beer. In this region, 14 breweries offer their home-brewed beer over 14 kilometers. The varied field-forest landscape together with the valley landscape of the Aurach and the hedges and wild banks are ideal for hiking, biking and experiencing nature.

The memorial stone reminds us that Hans Hotzelt from Frenshof survived the explosion of an old aircraft bomb with serious injuries. As part of the Grub-Frenshof land consolidation (2008-2020), the Hotzelt stone was restored, moved a few meters and set up on this newly designed area. A successful resting place!
