First impression on a sunny Saturday in August: Crowded! The old town consists of a partly static crowd of tourists, day-trippers, and students, as well as a throng of people idly milling through the streets. If you're not distracted by all the beautiful old buildings and taking photos, you run the risk of bumping into someone. ;-)
There are plenty of restaurants with outdoor seating. If you want to escape the crowds, just head to the banks of the Neckar.
