The Bismarck Column on the Heiligenberg (Holy Mountain) is an impressive observation tower made of red sandstone, built in 1903 in honor of Otto von Bismarck. It stands above the Philosopher's Walk and offers a fantastic view of the Old Town, Heidelberg Castle, the Neckar River, and the surrounding hills of the Odenwald Forest.

The tower is approximately 15 meters high and follows Wilhelm Kreis's "Götterdämmerung" (Twilight of the Gods) design. Particularly striking are the relief of the imperial eagle and the large fire bowl at the top. Climbing the spiral staircase is well worth the effort – at the top, you'll be rewarded with a panoramic view that is among the most beautiful in Heidelberg.

The Bismarck Column is a small tower with a brazier on its platform. The tender for the construction did not specify a tower, but called for the erection of multiple braziers. The platform only offers a small amount of space for visitors at the edges, as the brazier frame obstructs most of it. However, a view of the southern bank of the Neckar River, with Heidelberg's old town and castle, as well as the towering Königstuhl hill, is worthwhile. There are also good views of the Upper Rhine Valley, Speyer, and the Palatinate Forest.
