St. John's Church (rarely St. John's Church) is the largest church in the city of Lauf an der Pegnitz. The Protestant parish church stands at the western end of the market square and is located on the site of a chapel built in 1275. After the destruction of the hospital church Sankt Leonhard she became Protestant parish church. The present building was built between 1350 and 1370.
The Laufer sculptor Balthasar Götz created the altar in the second half of the 17th century with eight interchangeable pictures. The organ also dates from the same period.
On the church tower is the two-storey apartment of the Stadttürmer, who served until 1931 as a fire-fighter and city musician from there with his journeymen his service. Above the apartment there is another room, about the use of which no reliable knowledge is available.
