the church of Lappeenranta (inner city) parish, originally designed as a Russian Orthodox church for the military, construction started in 1912 but the process got interrupted by WW1 and Finnish independence so it was finally opened with some modifications as a Lutheran church in 1924, also check out the fortifications belonging to the Lappeenranta fortress surrounding the church
