The St. Laurentius Church in Wismar is the first Catholic church that was allowed to be built with a tower in Mecklenburg after the Reformation. The church was consecrated on October 12, 1902 by the Bishop of the Diocese of Osnabrück, Dr. Hubertus Voß, in the name of Saint Laurentius, who was one of the patron saints of Wismar in the Middle Ages.
