Rothenburg ob der Tauber is known for its well-preserved medieval old town with its numerous half-timbered houses. These are a characteristic feature of the town and shape its landscape. The Plönlein, a small triangular square with half-timbered houses, is considered one of the most beautiful medieval townscapes in Germany and is a popular photo subject. The half-timbered houses in Rothenburg are often decorated with colorful flower boxes and brass signs, giving the town a special atmosphere. The alleys of the old town wind between these historic buildings and invite you to take a stroll. Rothenburg has also served as a backdrop for several films, including a short sequence in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," according to Beers & Beans.
