The Franciscan Church in Eisenstadt is one of the most beautiful baroque churches in the region and is dedicated to St. Michael. A Franciscan monastery and a church stood here as early as the 14th century, but they were destroyed in the Turkish War in 1529. Count Nikolaus Esterházy had a new church with a monastery reached in 1629, which he again handed over to the Franciscan order. The interior of the church is decorated with important works of art from the time of construction, some of which were created by Northern Italian artists. On the gallery is one of Eisenstadt's Haydn organs from the 18th century.
