Probably few people know that Peiner Weg is one of the longest, if not the longest, streets in Burgdorf. Beginning near the Schwarzer-Herzog roundabout, it runs parallel to Immenser Landstraße, which then becomes the L412, past the correctional facility, past the Lehmann-Kiesteich pond, and finally to Eichenhof, whose entrance sign and house number 50 prove that you are still on Peiner Weg.
Over the 4 km, the road's appearance changes from a busy and congested asphalt road to a gravel track and poorly maintained asphalt surface to a dirt road with potholes in the sandy soil. The most beautiful stretch, however, is the stretch after the new development to the crossing "In den Kämmern," which, as an avenue, is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists only, and the gravel is very easy to navigate with almost any type of tire.
By the way, if you continue straight ahead past house number 50, you'll pass Grafhorn and then reach Arpke after another 4 km. Only then, this route is no longer called 'Peiner Weg'... 😉
