Hiking
A beautiful green space, laid out with herbs and flowers on the square between the mine buildings. In the middle of the park stands a section of a stone shaft. A stone shaft is a round tunnel built from heavy concrete blocks (like this one) - as opposed to wooden or steel constructions. In the Beringen mine, there were two sizes: a diameter of 4.5 meters (46 blocks) and a diameter of 3.6 meters (39 blocks). Each block weighed approximately 105 kilos. The shafts lay horizontally and were used for the transport of personnel, materials, and coal.
