Extensions of the Geneberg pond area were inaugurated at the end of 2021. Two ponds were restored in Vijverstraat. Three plots with former weekend ponds were given two more. The biodiversity of the ponds was also improved, including planting new forests and removing exotic species. Thanks to the project, there is now a connection between the Natuurpunt pools and eight already equipped ponds. More about this at internetgazet.be/beringen/vijvergebied-geneberg-hervormd-tot-natuur.aspx
The aim here is also to expand the great crested newt population.
The ponds are accessible to hikers from Beverlo and Ham themselves. They are part of the 10,000 step walk in Ham and you get there via the aforementioned Vijverstraat. The municipality of Ham has further information about various works carried out and the Geneberg ponds at ham.be/product/968/geneberg-vijvers-vol-leven
