Roberts Lake was once a tidal estuary, but development and landfill for the coastal highway cut off the sea's influence. The freshwater lake is named after Dr. John Roberts, one of Seaside's founders, and is frequented by waterfowl all year round. There are few parks here; the lake is mainly used by cyclists and joggers, runs along the old rails of the SP line
