Fossils at the Sosberger Bach

Nobody had expected that and it was a little sensation. 'When this forest path was pushed off by a heavy caterpillar in the summer of 1964, fossils were found in the slate spoil a few days later. By chance, pupils from the Sosberg elementary school, who were walking to the brook with their teacher W. Mies, came across strange images that were on some slabs of slate. Upon closer inspection, the teacher clearly recognized fossils in them. They were ferns, grasses. and even small mollusks from the Devonian period (400 million years ago.) The most impressive find was a reddish shimmering fish, about 20 cm long, which rose in relief from the plate. Unfortunately, the finds are when the Sosberg primary school was closed in 1976 lost.
