There is no certain and precise information regarding the construction of the current Church of San Bartolomeo and the foundation of the parish. Some documents show 1782 as the date of erection of the church, but it seems that already between 1299 and 1350 there is news as included within the village of the Lozzole Castle, then owned by the Bishop of Florence.
The church was rebuilt thanks to the efforts of Don Antonio Samori 'and several volunteers and was inaugurated and reopened in August 2012. Next to the complex, the Casa del Popolo was also reopened, now used as a club.
At the beginning of the 1900s a school was also located here, as it was the center of a parish that stretched for several kilometers, with various houses and farms scattered across the mountains.

Very special and unexpected location. Touching the memory of the battle of the 100 thousand.

I would like to correct that it was not only the work of Don Antonio Samori but also of Don Antonio Bandini who was actually originally from those areas and a priest in Bagnacavallo who with the boys of the diocese (including myself) worked hard to bring it back to its current splendor, I spent 2 summers there 🥹
