Samogitian = Lower Lithuania is a historical region in the western part of present-day Lithuania. Samogitia includes the Tauragė District and the Telšai District. In addition, there are the former South Courland regions of Megowe (Palanga) and Ceclis (Plungė-Mazeikiai). The unofficial capital of Samogitia is Telšiai.
