The Egidienkirche in Erlangen-Eltersdorf is an Evangelical Lutheran. Church. A wooden church (11th - 12th centuries) stood in the place of today's Egidienkirche. In the 13th or 14th century this was replaced by a fortified church. In the preserved choir tower is the year 1727 (not 1227!). However, this dating only relates to a repair. The nave was redesigned in Baroque style from 1766 to 1768 and replaced by a neo-Gothic plastered building in 1909. The Egidienkirche was surrounded by a high defensive wall, which was torn down in 1827 and 1897 respectively.
