In May 1945, the authorities decided to establish several "Staging Areas" or holding camps for the repatriation of their soldiers to the USA.
The official name of the camp is "Headquarters, United States Staging Area, Antwerp, Belgium, APO 562," but the soldiers named their temporary accommodation "Top Hat."
