Perched on the clifftop there are fantastic views of Lough Leane from Governor's Rock. It is thought that the beauty sport was named after a governor of Ross Castle. Although which one has been lost to history.

The Governor’s Rock can be reached by a trail of approximately 3km starting and finishing at Ross Castle and passing by the Copper Mines of Ross Island. The circuit can be combined with the Library Point trail to extend the length to over 5km. The heights of the rocky shores offer beautifuls view over Lough Leane and its world of islands.
