The memorial caught my attention on my first visit in 1978. At the time, it was probably primarily a climbing frame, without considering its background. The memorial was erected in memory of the victims of the lifeboat disaster of June 9, 1929, in which the brothers Ottosen and Frederik Thomsen tragically lost their lives while rescuing two fishing boats.
