The Kahle Asten is the third highest mountain in the Rothaargebirge but certainly the best known, as it is located directly at the famous tourist destination Winterberg. He is 841 meters high and no matter where you come from, this means a long, crisp climb. But it's worth it: Upstairs not only a great view awaits you (from the branch tower, it is even better, from here you can see in clear weather to Brocken in the Harz!), But also a hotel with a restaurant. And of course a madness descent!

When the weather is good, you have a fantastic all-round view, especially from the Asten Tower, but when the weather is bad, you can't see your hand in front of your eyes because the summit is often covered in fog. The restaurant right on the summit plateau ensures your physical well-being. By the way, it is often incorrectly claimed that the Kahle Asten is the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia, but the Langenberg, about ten kilometers to the northeast, is a few meters higher.
