The Lenne is a 129.1 km long, orographically left, or southeast tributary of the Ruhr. The Lennequelle lies in the northern part of the Rothaargebirge in the Westphalian Sauerland. It rises close to the summit of the 841.9 m high Kahler Asten and about 315 m west of the summit-looking lookout tower Astenturm at 825 m altitude. For the Rothaargebirge the complete equipment of the mountain heaths of the Kahler Asten with the typical kind inventory is exemplary.
