Do you know Siegfriedsdorf? Not really? That's right, that's not possible. For in 1427 a Hussite army reached the small town and devastated it completely. Only a chapel fragment and a fountain are reminiscent of this site. In the 12th century, the settlement was built above the monastery Marienthal at Ostritz. Siegfriedsdorf stretched along a small stream near the present federal road 99. From the mountain peace, a bumpy parking lot, you reach the former site after only five minutes walk.Until 1855 there was still field, then the monastery forest was created and expanded. As a documentary mention is referred to the Bohemian Queen Kunigunde, who founded the monastery in 1234 and referred to the then "Sifridsdorf" written place reference. In 1241 King Wenceslas confirmed the donation to the monastery. In 1834, as can be read in Schönfelder's "History of the Monastery", Siegfriedsdorf still recognizes the remains of the foundations. The former village at this point was the "basic foodstuff" for the monastery for centuries and was given to the nuns by Queen Kunigunde in 1234. When the Hussites invaded this region, they did not manage to rob the monastery, because at that time it was more of a castle than a baroque palace. For this reason, the Hussites only managed to pillage the village of "Siffridsdorf" on May 11, 1427.
