The castle was originally inhabited by the Lords of Teylingen. When the family died out in 1282, the castle fell into disrepair. It was then converted into a hunting lodge. In 1572 the castle was demolished by the Spaniards down to the foundations.

The castle can be visited on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can find more information here: kasteelteylingen.nl
