Bike Touring Highlight
The castle is located directly on the banks of the Elbe and cannot be overlooked due to its imposing (also colored) construction. From the opposite bank, the castle shows its most beautiful side, especially in the late afternoon. On the site itself you should take a lot more time.

The former summer residence and later summer residence of the Saxon royal family was often the scene of many weddings and celebrations in the days of Augustus the Strong. Museums have moved into the Palais since the 20th century and the palace park is the city's most beautiful oasis of relaxation for Dresden residents and tourists from all over the world.
Only about 15 kilometers from the center of the Saxon state capital Dresden, Schloss & Park Pillnitz is considered the most important Chinese palace complex in Europe. The ensemble of architecture and garden art is harmoniously integrated into the river landscape of the Elbe Valley in front of the vineyards. This diversity makes it the perfect destination for culture and garden lovers and families.

I can not recommend the "bypass" of the castle - it goes nasty up a hill and back down again. Then you really want to drive past the castle and push the piece of cobblestones (there is no bicycle allowed).

Castle Pillnitz
The best way to approach the pleasure palace with the distinctive pagoda roofs on a Elbdampfer.
At the gates of Dresden, about 15 kilometers east of the city center, are picturesquely situated on the Elbe Castle and Park Pillnitz. At the beginning of the 18th century, Augustus the Strong (1670-1733) gave the complex to his famous mistress Anna Constantia von Cosel (1680-1765), who had her permanent residence here for several years. However, when she fell out of favor in 1718, the king took the castle back in his possession and put the Countess almost in the air.
