The Gohlitzer church was until 1459 mother church and was from 1541 to the daughter church. The wide, mighty tower and the western part of the church are medieval (15th century). The eastern part and the pointed arch windows are baroque. The ceiling is now smoothly plastered. In 1701, the church of Gohlitz received its first bell (354 kg) and 1716 the second (893 kg). She received her organ in 1773.
Due to the rapid demographic development in the late 18th century, the church had to be enlarged. Thus, it was extended in 1810 on the side of the altar by 16 feet. For this purpose, a wall was taken out and made changes to the pulpit altar, the gallery and the stalls.

The church is very simple on the outside, but a little gem on the inside! Pictures can be viewed at dreikleinode.de. Maybe you're lucky and it's open.

From the outside, the medieval origins of the Gohlitz church can no longer be seen. Originally it was a late medieval brick building - not unusual for this area - consisting of a rectangular west tower the width of the nave and a nave with a straight eastern end. Traces of this can still be found inside the building. A vault was prepared for the basement of the tower. A pointed arch connects the tower and nave. Another arch can be found on the south side of the ship.
During the Baroque period, the nave was extended to the east and all the openings were rebuilt. Today's plastering is modern.
