The mill wheel that is still in place is very impressive.

For local researchers, the Rosselmühle is one of the oldest mills in the valley, although there is still no precise historical evidence. It is known that the mill was rebuilt in 1720. From then on, it was given the nickname Eselsmühle, because these animals set the grinding stones of the bone mill in motion. Today, only the water wheel of the Rosselmühle in our romantic valley can be set in motion with the natural power of water. At the Rosselmühle, the mill wheel rotated six times a minute, which corresponded to an output of 14 horsepower. The residents of Maßweiler, Thaleischweiler, Höhfröschen, Herschberg, Gersbach and Reifenberg had their mills near the Rosselmühle. Grinding beautiful white flour was once the great art of master miller Adolf Luxembourger.
