To end the pharmacy's long-standing namelessness, the Hoym City Council decided in 1986 to give it a name. After several council meetings, they agreed on the name "Kügelgen-Apotheke." Wilhelm von Kügelgen was a constant companion of the aforementioned Duke Carl Alexander of Bernburg. His portraits and landscape paintings can still be seen in many museums today, for example, the Kügelgen Room in Ballenstedt.
