Even if the landscape on the Schwansen peninsula is heavily influenced by agriculture, small patches of forest always provide variety. The Karlsburger Holz, whose name is derived from the nearby Gut Karlsburg, is the largest closed deciduous forest on the peninsula. Here you cycle on lonely forest paths mainly through beech and oak trees. To protect the plants and animals here, the forest is designated as a fauna-flora-habitat area.
