This path is not the official Elberadweg, which runs parallel to it through the Vierlande (also very nice). The special thing is that you drive on the dike up to two kilometers from Geesthacht and have a beautiful view of the Elbe and can actually stop anywhere short or longer. The road, which is also on the dike, is often used by racing cyclists. So far I've been lucky with car traffic, in some places parked cars slow down the traffic.

It's just a nice stretch on the dike.

As Siegfried LG writes, a very nice and easy to drive route with great views of the Elbe. Here are always many road cyclists on the road at very high speed on the road - who wants, can even try to stay tuned to them ..... 😄

For me with the most beautiful dike section on the way from the Tatenbker lock to Geesthacht to the barrages. Just nice there. to perfection, only the entire dike section would have to be designated as a 30 zone and every 150m a stationary speed camera, because the cars and the trucks sometimes quite rush and annoying.

You can also ride comfortably on the walking cycle path from the Zollenspieker Fährhaus if there are too many racing cyclists on the road. You are even closer to the top of the dike and you can let your eyes wander even further. About 1 km before Altengamme there is the junction to Geesthacht with a view of the Geesthacht Elbinsel. The cycle path along the road to the lock was redesigned at the end of May 2020. There are not many cars on Sunday mornings.

Always beautiful with a fantastic view of the Elbe when you drive on the bike path. The section from Zollenspieker to the Geesthacht barrage is the most beautiful for me because you can always enjoy the view of the Elbe landscape.

Cycling along the Elbe is always worthwhile. Watching sheep and ships.
