Where the Prinsenpark is now located, there used to be, before it was created as a royal domain, an extensive heathland. In implementation of the nature management plan of the Prinsenpark, the heathland area is being expanded. Two small heathland parcels are being connected to each other, creating a heathland area of approximately 3 hectares. The forest in between has a lower natural value and is being cut down.
