    Great Horst quarry

The Great Horst is a stock-like intrusion made of latitandesite with a dimension of about 2700 m length and up to 1100 m width, which penetrated into the previously horizontally layered sediments of the Rotliegend and shifted them almost vertically in the edge area of the intrusion. The red-lying cover layers of the intrusion were eroded around 2.5 million years ago in the older Quaternary or later Tertiary. Source: Text information board
