The first building on the site was apparently built in the 1920s by a wealthy gentleman named Dr. Koch. This is why the house was also called "the Koch Villa." The owner himself called it "Lug ins Land," as evidenced by an inscription, presumably above the original main entrance of the old villa. Dr. Koch died in 1944, and the property passed to his brother.
