After World War II, the city council decided to build a modern fire station for the Saarlouis Volunteer Fire Department. The modern fire station included, among other things, seven vehicle bays, a workshop, a suitable training room, and a 20-meter-long hose washing system with a 20-meter-high hose drying tower. After the fire department moved to Lisdorfer Straße in 1975, this fire station was demolished and the property sold; only the sandstone hose drying tower still stands.
