A quiet spot by the water and in the middle of the forest. Is there anything more beautiful? The last storms have noticeably scoured the forest around. But that does not spoil the idyll. We always like to make a detour from the planned way to rest there.

The Peterstichel bei Thale, which is also called Ochsensumpfteich, belongs to Thale, is located in a landscape protection area approx. 4 km south of the city towards Friedrichsbrunn. This quiet, idyllic forest pond is an artificial reservoir that dams the Steinbach and other mountain streams and was created for mining purposes. The Peterstichel lies at a height of approx. 500 m above sea level. NN in the middle of dense mixed forest, away from the signposted main hiking trails. It can only be reached by vehicle with a permit. Official parking spaces are not shown. The pond is 3.10 hectares, measures about 190 x 150 m and is quite deep. Despite the remote location, you can easily reach the Peterstichel on foot or by bike on hiking trails from Hexentanzplatz, Friedrichsbrunn or Thale.
