The Gothic church (14th-15th century) in the square has been enlarged several times and has the characteristic diamond pattern of different types of stone. The massive tower (late 14th century), topped by a platform and a watchtower, has the status of "beffroi ecclésiatique" (ecclesiastical belfry). A charter drawn up for the inhabitants by the Count of Ponthieu in 1384 states that the citizens and the city officials "may ring the bells at any time they please".
