The Araklis Monolith (Greek: Άρακλης) is one of the most famous geological menhirs on the Greek island of Ithaca. It is located about 600 meters east of the mountain village of Anogi and reaches a height of nine meters.

    The name "Araklis" is a
popular variation of Hercules, the hero of Greek mythology, to whom this impressive boulder is dedicated.

    Contrary to earlier assumptions,
it is not an artificial megalithic monument, but a purely natural geological formation of Upper Cretaceous limestone. The spindle-shaped form was created over millions of years through karstification (dissolution of the rock by water).
