Hiking

The Evangelical Lutheran Town Church of Plau am See can be seen from all directions. In the middle of the 13th century it was built in the style of a Westphalian hall church and presents the transition style from Romanesque to Gothic. The three chandeliers, the baptismal font and the carved altar in the sacristy are particularly valuable. plau.de/evangelische-stadtkirche

The parish church of St. Mary in Plau am See was built in the 12th century as a three-aisled and three-bay hall church. The massive tower, which can be seen from afar, is open to tourists every day from April to October and offers a wonderful panoramic view of the town and lake. The three bronze bells of the Plau church date from 1522, 1700 and 1963.

120 steps lead directly into the bell chamber at a height of 40 metres. The parish church is the venue for the Plau Music Summer every year from June to September.
