First mentioned in documents in 1586, the Frohnhofer mill has been family-owned since 1685. As a stately business of the knights of Büg Castle, the Frohnhofer mill shared the Schwabach as a waterway with 26 other mills from Hetzles to Erlangen in the 19th century. The mill has always had agricultural land that earned a living in the months of the year when there was little water. In contrast to the mills upstream, the Frohnhofer mill was very late in incorporating technical innovations and was fitted with turbines in the new building in 1954. The customer mill ran until 1979 and was then carefully converted into a health food store on the organic farm. Currently, 60 hectares are being worked on the Demeter farm. The arable farm has around 60 head of grazing cattle. It is a family business and currently has six people in three generations living under one roof.
