De Boeg is a war memorial in Rotterdam. It commemorates the 3,500 crew members of Dutch merchant ships who lost their lives in World War II. Fred Carasso's memorial was unveiled on April 10, 1957 by Princess Margriet on the corner of Boompjes and Leuvehaven. The 46 meter high aluminum construction symbolizes an arch in the concrete waves. Later, on July 15, 1965, an 8-meter-high group of bronze sculptures was added to the memorial: a helmsman, three sailors and one drowned. On the side is the text: "You have stayed on course".

The National Merchant Navy Monument (also known as ‘De Boeg’) in Rotterdam is a steel structure covered with blank Canadian aluminium, depicting a ship’s bow splitting waves. The sculpture is placed on a concrete pedestal. In front of the pedestal is a bronze sculpture group of five male figures connected by a cable. The wake of a ship is depicted in relief under the cable. The memorial is 45 metres high. The pedestal is 2 metres high and 13 metres wide
