The Oude Haven is on the edge of the city center. This is where the global port for which Rotterdam is known today was born. The first ships sailed from here as early as the 13th century. The integrated maritime museum is also well worth seeing.

The Leuvehaven is a port of Rotterdam located near the center of Rotterdam and the Erasmus Bridge. The port is used, among other things, as an outdoor museum for the Maritime Museum Rotterdam. The Leuvehaven has a direct connection to the Nieuwe Maas via a passage between the Vasteland and the Boompjes. The bridge over this passage is called the Nieuwe Leuve Bridge. Leuvehaven is also the name of the street that runs along the water on the west side of the harbor, parallel to the Schiedamsedijk.
