University of Wrocław (UWr) - one of eighteen state classical universities in Poland, based in Wrocław, educating in the humanities and science. It was originally established in 1702 as the Academia Leopoldina, in 1811 merged with the (former) Viadrina University transferred from Frankfurt (Oder), and in 1945 it was transformed into a Polish university. The university's traditions refer to the German universities in Wrocław and the traditions of the Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv, established in 1661. It is the oldest university in Wrocław.

If you want to study at the University of Wrocław, it is especially worthwhile to look for accommodation early – the dormitories fill up quickly and private apartments in the city center become significantly more expensive at the start of the semester.

A second important tip: Even though many programs are offered in English, a little Polish will help you enormously in everyday life (authorities, small shops, landlords). The city of Wrocław is very international and student-friendly, but outside the university, English is not a given everywhere.
