In winter, the Märtesweiher and the surrounding area are transformed into a magical, icy and snow-covered landscape. You won't encounter a huge lake here, but it is definitely idyllic here!

The Märtes Weiher was created in 1977, in 1990 a break in the dam crest triggered a flood in the village. The dam was reinforced and rehabilitated with granite blocks. But at the beginning of 2018 doubts arose again about the stability of the dam. The pond was no longer dammed, some of the water was pumped out to relieve the dam and an expert opinion on its stability was commissioned. Apparently, the expert came to the conclusion that the dam needs to be strengthened. Since then the Märtes Weiher has been like a large puddle.
