The monument was inaugurated in 1912 on the occasion of the 50th Foundation Day of the men's gymnastics club "Vorwärts" at Fichteplatz. It was implemented in 1981 and is still standing on Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportplatz on Marienberg on Berliner Straße - but in a corner not far from the water tower, where hardly anyone takes notice. Pity!
