Already in 1262 the possession of the Lords of Loersfeld was mentioned in documents. At the time of his first mention, the Loersfelder Hof belonged to the knight Eberhard von Belle and his wife Hildegunde

Lörsfeld Castle was built in the 15th century and rebuilt to its present form in 1840. A gourmet restaurant currently resides here. The 10-hectare English landscape park around the castle is particularly noteworthy.

The medieval Loersfeld Castle is located in the middle of an approx. 10 hectare English landscape park and is one of the most beautiful complexes in Germany. The property of the Lords of Loersfeld was mentioned in a document as early as 1262, although a farm probably existed on this site before then. Today's castle was mainly built towards the end of the 15th and 16th centuries, was spared from destruction in the numerous wars of the Middle Ages and the early modern period and has therefore remained almost unchanged since then. Loersfeld Castle is one of the few structures that are still visible today that show the development from the wooden tower of the early castle complex to the stone defense tower. The castle has been owned by the Barons of Fürstenberg since 1819, who made various additions and conversions to the complex. The 2nd World War and the severe lowering of the groundwater level caused by the surrounding lignite opencast mine caused severe damage to the building fabric. After the subsidence had come to a standstill due to the lowering of the groundwater level, the castle was extensively renovated from 1990 to 1992 by the Bellefontaine family, who have been tenants since the early 1960s (with the support of the owner of the castle).
Today, Thomas Bellefontaine runs a gourmet restaurant in the mansion.
